Jesus Is Worth Waiting For

The sun is shining, the garden looks so inviting: the grass, the swing, the slide, the trampoline, the paddling pool!  "Mummy, please open the back door, I want to go out and play".  You can imagine the excitement, the little child simply can't wait to go outside and enjoy a lovely warm day.  "Yes, it looks lovely outside, but first let me put on some sun cream".  Even a few moments putting on cream for a child, can seem soooo looong.  How do you feel about waiting?

The Bible is split into two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament.

In the Old Testament, the people of God had to trust in God and wait for His promised saviour for many hundreds of years.

In the New Testament, Jesus (Christ), the promised saviour comes.  He is born as a baby, grows into a man, lives a perfect life until about 33 years old, then dies on the cross to pay the price for the sins of his people.  On the third day, he rises from the dead, proving that sin has been defeated and returns to heaven.  But there is still a wait.

Jesus will return as Lord and King of all creation.  We don't know when that will be, but we do know that we have to wait.  On that day, he will take his people to heaven, and those who have rejected him or simply ignored him, he will send to a lost eternity.

"Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." — Hebrews chapter 9 verse 28 (NIV)

Jesus is worth the wait, but what eternity will that bring for you?

Have you trusted in Jesus and had your sins forgiven?  Sin is easy to understand. It means living as though God doesn't exist, rejecting or simply ignoring what he says to us through the Bible. If that is you, we want to help.
