Dreams & Promises
Christmas is now a lovely memory, resolutions are, well (only) resolutions, maybe more snow is on its way at some point for us to enjoy, and spring is within sight, but not yet quite touchable, even with long arms.
Looking forward to something enjoyable, but for the present beyond reach, is something we all do. We all have dreams, some realistic, some unlikely, some impossible, some close to happening, some way off in the distance, dreams have a powerful pull on our affections.
Jesus made promises, some for now and some for the future. But unlike our own dreams, the promises Jesus made are certain.
When we become Christians, Jesus promises to be with us all of our lives. That doesn't mean life will be easy, but it does mean that whatever life throws at us, we are never alone.
And Jesus promises us a future home of unimaginable happiness with him in heaven. For many, this sounds like complete nonsense, but if Jesus makes a promise, he always keeps it.
Are you a Christian? Have you trusted in Jesus to forgive your sins, and to give you a new life? Are you looking forward to enjoying the promises Jesus makes to you personally? Will you enjoy unimaginable happiness in heaven when life here comes to an end?
Jesus is the only route to true happiness, to the fulfillment of all our best dreams, to his presence with us here and now, and to a wonderful and eternal future home in heaven with him.
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
