Easter
There are occasions when a statement is made that sends out an important message. For instance, a politician may make a statement about government policy and people sit up and listen. Or, early in the season, a football team has a resounding victory over one of their rivals. The pundits tell us that such a victory has made a statement to other teams in the league.
The Bible tells us that at the first Easter God made a statement to the entire world. It says that, by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ was “declared with power to be the Son of God” (it says this in the book of Romans, chapter 1 and verse 4).
God has made a statement and declared to us that Jesus Christ is his Son and that he can do for us what nobody else can do. He can deal with all the wrong we have done and make us right with God. He can enable us to live our lives in a relationship with God, and so give meaning and direction to our lives. He can give us answers and hope when confronted by the pain of death.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the heart of Christianity. His resurrection is a great statement for us all to take note of and think about. In a world where there is so much bad news and sorrow, it is a statement of good news of great joy.
